The Rule of Kitties

We were looking at some old photos and videos of Chester and found this gem that we just had to share. What is it that makes kitties so hard to move?

The Silver Lining

BabooA month ago today, we said good-bye to our best friend and baby girl, Chester. The timing of Baboo coming into our lives coinciding with Chester’s leaving has been a great comfort to us.  There will never be another Chessie, but this little guy has been a welcome addition to the family, and has been excellent company for our boy Vikter. He’s even picked up Chester’s grooming duties (although Vik seems to do most of the work):

Welcome to the family sweet Baboo!

Leggings for Life

You may recall an earlier post about knitting sweaters for penguins affected by oil spills. Well here’s another reason to pull out those knitting needles! Leggings for Life is an organization committed to connecting knitting and crochet enthusiasts with animals living with deformed or amputated limbs. Watch the video above for more info, and be sure to check out their Facebook page!

Help the St. James Cat Colony

There has been a recent call to action by the Mayor’s Alliance in an effort to save a colony of feral cats from starvation or, worse, poisoning. The cats have been living on the property at St. James Church in Manhattan, where caretakers have been feeding and monitoring them in accordance with TNR protocol. In recent weeks, however, the resident priests have locked caretakers out, and refuse to meet with the Mayor’s Alliance to discuss a mutually beneficial course of action.

Please take a moment to read the story on Out of the Cage! where you can learn more and contact church officials to voice your concern.

A Hard Goodbye

This week, with little notice, we had to put our beautiful baby Chester to rest. She brought us so much joy and will be dearly missed. We want to thank the kind staff of the Animal Medical Center for their compassionate treatment towards ourselves and our beloved Chessie. Rest in peace, baby girl.
